Moorditch Gurlongga Association Inc.(MGA) priority is to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI), Australian First Nation People, Children, Youth, Families and Respected Elders are provided with employment, training and education opportunities. These opportunities are to be inclusive of Australian mainstream practices, systems, Nyoongar Language, Culture and respect and awareness of other communities cultural structures and ways of learning.
Moorditch Gurlongga Association (MGA) was established by a representative of the following: Aboriginal health worker, Aboriginal students from Thornlie T.A.F.E. Aboriginal community and a non-Aboriginal nurse from Community Health.
The group formed due to the need of child care for Aboriginal parents. An Aboriginal health worker identified the need and with a non-Aboriginal nurse witnessed during home visits that Aboriginal grandparents were caring for seven to eight grandchildren, as their own children (parents of the grandchildren) were attending Thornlie T.A.F.E. MGA became incorporated on the 11th November 1985.
